Raising the Dead? : Reconstructing Martial Arts from Written Sources
Fri, Dec 18
|Online Event

About the Event
By definition, HEMA is a process of trying to breathe life into dead bones, as even the most detailed written work cannot match a living exponent available to answer a student's every question from the authority of living experience. Within these limitations, how do we set out to answer questions that a given source(s) leave unanswered? Based on his essay in the recent "Meditations on HEMA", Greg looks at this question and the role of contemporary traditions, lineal descendants, artwork and more in the never-ending process of trying to raise the dead.
