About the Event
Many fencing masters have come down through history as shadowy figures, lost to time. Not so Salvator Fabris (1544 - 1618), a Paduan fencing master, knight and Grandmaster of a fencing lineage that supplanted the ancient Liechtenauer tradition throughout German-speaking lands, and cast such a long shadow that two-centuries after his death, German fencing masters would debate who among them taught the "true Salvatoran art". This remarkable man drew commentary and grudging admiration from multiple contemporaries and later masters, as well as a sometimes bizarre set of anecdotal legends. Did he really choreograph plays for Shakespeare? Was he really a paid assassin? Come find out!
